missing the feed
- Titus misses the feed.
- He thinks back to the time (maybe fifty or a hundred years before) when computers were all outside of people's bodies, you know, as if you tried to carry your "lungs in a briefcase and opened it to breathe" (10.2).
- We learn that people had been really pumped when the earliest feeds first came out. People were going to be super educated and have a world of knowledge right at their fingertips. Titus thinks everyone's "supersmart" now because of the feed (10.3).
- Now, pretty much all of the important stuff happens on the feed. You get "instant news" and entertainment such as the girls' favorite show Oh? Wow! Thing! (10.4).
- But the thing that Titus thinks is best about the feed is that it knows you. It knows what you want, sometimes even before you know what you want. He knows that the corporations control everything, but hey! They employ people.
- He's pretty upset right now, though, since he can't do anything on his feed at all, and so has to sit in this stupid boring hospital room and look at this stupid boring picture. Bored now.
