- They find Po a good hiding spot the next day—an out of the way cabin in the woods—as well as a secondary hiding spot: a cave behind a waterfall. That's where Po will go if Leck's soldiers get close enough to search the cabin.
- Katsa and Bitterblue set him up with ample firewood, a food source, a few weapons, and some wood for constructing a bow. (He's going to need a craft project or two to keep himself busy while he recovers.)
- Katsa doesn't want to go, and she keeps trying to make more preparations for Po before she does, but the time finally comes, and like Marvin K. Mooney, she and Bitterblue finally depart. (With a few more tears than we remember in Dr. Seuss's tale.)
