Dinah Brand
- At the First National Bank, the Op questions a cashier named Robert Albury, who tells him that the $5000 was cashed by a Dinah Brand that morning.
- Next, the Op heads to the chief of police, Noonan, at City Hall. He sure gets around.
- Noonan says that Dinah Brand is Whisper's girlfriend and that she's only interested in money. When the Op tells Noonan that he saw Thaler entering the Willsson residence, they both go to pay a visit to Mrs. Willsson.
- Noonan questions Mrs. Willsson.
- She finally confesses that she saw her husband the night he was killed.
- Her story goes a little something like this:
- She had received an anonymous phone call telling her that Donald was going to Dinah's house to give her a $5000 check.
- She booked it to Dinah's house and saw Donald leaving when he was shot outside on the street. She went to check his body when Thaler came out and told her she had to leave.
- Then, when Noonan asks who had made the phone call, he tries to persuade her that it was Thaler because he wants to pin the murder on him.
- Soon after, the Op meets with Albury at the lobby of his hotel. Apparently, Albury had a brief fling with Dinah Brand.
- He tells the Op that Dinah's only passion in life is acquiring money. She recently took in Dan Rolff, who suffers from tuberculosis.
- The Op decides it's time to pay Dinah a visit and heads to 1232 Hurricane Street.
