- The Op manages to escape unharmed, but clearly someone isn't happy that the Op is trying to dig up dirt in Personville.
- He thinks that Noonan is trying to have him killed.
- The Op heads back to Dinah's place, where Dan and Thaler are playing pinochle.
- Thaler seems to be on good terms with the Op and gives him what seems to be a straight bet on the boxing match: Kid Cooper will probably knock out Ike Bush in the sixth round.
