Red Harvest Theme of Lies and Deceit

What kind of murder story would Red Harvest be without a healthy serving of lies and deceit? Or should we say unhealthy? The Op is the mastermind behind the events that unfold as he pulls all the strings to antagonize each gang member. He spreads misinformation, tells lies, hides the truth, even has moments of self-denial thrown in as well. And of course, all the gang members and corrupt policemen are so accustomed to deceiving each other that it's part of the air they breathe.
