- Reuben knows how to hotwire cars. Why? Because he has a totally rough past. He has six brothers (one's dead, one's in jail, one's a drug dealer) and his mom's dead, too.
- During his unsettled childhood, Reuben drank a lot and ran around his small town getting into trouble, so no one was surprised when he blacked out one night and woke up naked in a sheep pen.
- However, Barry McKinnon knew what signs to look for in the news: unexplained deaths blamed on feral dogs. McKinnon rolled into Reuben's town, found out he was a seventh son—because that's how the werewolf gene is passed on—and kidnapped him.
- Nina, Dave, and Father Ramon get this story on the drive. As soon as they're close enough to civilization to get cell phone reception, Nina calls her mom, who's flipping out with worry.
- New problem: The McKinnons had snagged Dave's wallet, which had his ID in it (with his address on it). Dave asks Nina's mom to go to his place to pick up his laptop and address book stat, so the McKinnons don't get it first. Then the call is dropped.
- Dave tells Nina something else her mom had said: Someone called the house saying he found Nina's phone and wanted to send it back. Luckily, Nina's mom refused to give him the address.
- Reuben says this is bad news. He's worth big money to the McKinnons, and they're probably freaking out right now since the "corpses" they were going to dispose of are gone, too.
- Next thing on the agenda: What if they don't manage to drive to Sydney by sunrise? What will happen to Dave and Nina?
