Hello? Is anybody out there? Apparently there are lots of lonely people in the world of The Reformed Vampire Support Group. And by people, we mean humans as well as vampires and werewolves. Nina feels isolated and cut off from humanity—and like the rest of the vamps, she essentially is to keep her from chowing down on the population, and thereby spreading the vampiric infection.
Reuben is isolated, too, but that's because he's kept captive by some hostile dudes who'd rather profit off an illegal fighting/gambling ring than do the right thing. And then Nefley… poor Nefley. Like freaks and geeks of many flavors, he just doesn't seem to have any friends. Which leads to him becoming a vampire slayer. Pretty different backstory than Buffy, right?

- If you suddenly became a vampire, how would you feel about living such an isolated life? Why? Which character would you react most similarly to?

Chew on This
Nina's fiction is a way for her to feel less isolated as a vampire.
Nina and Reuben have more in common about how they handle isolation than Nina and Nefley.
