Avalanche
- It's almost time for them to leave Nome, and Sig keeps growing taller and taller. Anna and Maria sing every day, and everyone is happy and excited for the next place.
- Maria tells Anna to go get her brother—he's wandered outside and it's too cold for him to be out there.
- Anna's playing with her doll and talks back, but eventually goes along with what her mom says.
- When she runs down the street to look for her brother though, he's nowhere to be found.
- Then she goes to her dad's work in case Sig ran there to see Einar—but no such luck.
- She starts to get worried when she can't find Sig, but on the way home, she and her dad see him standing outside the cabin.
- What's weird is that he has the door open and it's frigid outside. Why didn't their mom tell him to shut the front door?
- Sensing something is wrong, Einar starts running to the house—when he gets there, he tells Anna to take her brother away from the cabin.
- At first Anna doesn't understand, but then she sees a pool of blood by her mom's body on the floor. Her dress is up by her knees and she is dead.
- The last thing Anna sees is her doll swimming in the pool of blood.
