Push and Pull
- The girl is startled when she walks in. He sees that she's listening to The Scarlet Letter on audiobook, and when she asks who is there, he introduces himself as the guy who ran into her the other day.
- They start to talk and she finds out that her dad teaches at the university, just like his mom does. He suddenly asks her how long she's been blind, and she gets kind of upset about it, but then she tells him that she's only been blind for about two years.
- Bobby recognizes that he's bumbled through this conversation, so he offers to leave. She opens the door to the study room after he leaves, though, and asks him to come back.
- They both apologize to each other, and Bobby tells her that he's been on his own a lot in the past few days and that he's forgotten how to make normal conversation. He even tells her about the car wreck and how he's staying at home by himself now.
- She tells him that she called him back because she's kind of lonely, too. She goes to school through a correspondence program, and none of the other kids she meets ever know what to say to her now that she's blind. It makes her angry.
- Then she tells him that her time in the room is almost up, and asks Bobby if he wants to go for a walk outside with her. He readily agrees. It's not like he has anything better to do right now.
