- That night, Alicia's dad comes over and starts speaking in scientific jargon with Bobby's dad. Even with all of their scientist knowledge, they don't really know how they're going to reverse the process, though.
- Since they think the process could take a really long time, Bobby pipes up and says that they have to tell the authorities—after all, it's only a matter of time before the police come after his parents.
- But his dad says that they've decided: If the police come, they will tell them that Bobby ran away, which shocks Bobby.
- He tells them calmly that he's going to bed, and goes upstairs feeling terribly alone.
