- Now we're getting the bird's-eye-view of a town, and there's a voiceover from a man named Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey). He tells us that what we're seeing is his neighborhood/street. He tells us that he's forty-two years old… and that, in less than a year, he'll be dead. Whoa again!
- Now we get a visual on Lester as he wakes up. Voiceover Lester tells us that Lester-in-bed is kind of dead already.
- Now we see Lester in the shower masturbating. Voiceover Lester comments on this being the highlight of his day. Yikes.
