The Count of Monte Cristo Chapter 34 Summary

The Colosseum

  • The riveting bandit story continues. We learn that at a rockin party one night (the likes of which would make Jay Gatsby weep with jealousy), Teresa danced with the rich host and fell in love with the hostess's dress. Luigi got really jealous. He burned the house down that night and stole the dress for his sweetie pie.
  • The next day, after the two had fled the scene, Luigi gave directions to a guy named Sinbad (no way), and then he discovered that his sweetie pie had been kidnapped.
  • Luigi killed the kidnapper, realizing only too late that the kidnapper was Cucumetto.
  • Luigi put on Cucumetto's clothes and then proclaimed himself leader of the bandits.
