- Villefort refuses to turn a blind eye (remember the two used to be lovers, once upon a time, and Cavalcanti is really the son they once tried to kill when he was just an infant).
- Mrs. Danglars and Villefort learn that Andrea Cavalcanti has been captured by police in Compiegne.
