- Azalea cannot believe her eyes: Clover is the woman Fairweller has been courting. Azalea storms up to the pavilion and whacks Fairweller in the face with a pair of gloves, accusing him of taking advantage of her sister.
- Fairweller takes off, and Clover hugs Azalea, saying she's so glad she can finally tell someone—apparently she's had a thing for Fairweller for a while, because she tends to watch people rather than talk to them (being self-conscious about her speaking problems and all).
- Clover lists a bunch of good deeds that Fairweller did to help their family that won her over, and as she talks, Azalea realizes that her sister's stutter has almost disappeared. Clover asks Azalea to talk to the King on her behalf, so that Fairweller can get permission to court Clover, and Azalea agrees.
- Back at the palace, the King asks Azalea what she thought of Lord Teddie. Azalea suggests that they hold a Yuletide ball and invite him to it—after all, Clover should be meeting young men too.
- The King says that perhaps they're not ready to lift mourning yet—it means a lot to him, even though the girls aren't taking it seriously.
- Ugh, bummer, right? Azalea tries to talk to the King about what happens when they dance at night, hoping that they can actually, like, communicate for once… and she faints again.
- When she wakes up, Mr. Bradford is there. He's come to try his hand at the riddle, but the King says that it's the holidays, so he'll have to come back.
- Azalea asks if he can stay after all—he doesn't have a family to spend the holidays with—and the King agrees.
- Azalea naps through the evening, when her sisters wake up her and they get ready to go dancing. Before they can go through the passage, though, there's a soft knock at the door—but no one's there. Weird.
- No one's in a good mood, so the girls don't really dance that night. Keeper asks Azalea for a waltz before they leave. She's trembling so much as they dance together though, that he eventually stops and tells her to get some rest so that their next dance will be better.
