- Keeper jumps up, and tries to defend himself against the invisible blows—he manages to tear off the wraith cloak from the person wearing it, who turns out to be the King.
- Within moments, Keeper also gets the King bound in the curtains. He begins to toy with Azalea, saying he'll kill the girls from oldest to youngest.
- Suddenly the windows smash in, as men on horseback crash into the room from the outside—Fairweller is there, Lord Teddie, and Mr. Bradford too.
- Azalea and the King are freed, and he asks her for the handkerchief. The King wraps the handkerchief around a poker and guides Azalea to smash the mirror holding Delphinium. As the mirror breaks, she reappears in the room. They rescue the rest of her sisters the same way.
- Keeper vanishes during all this. The King wants to get the girls somewhere warm, so once they figure out that the library's free of magic, they all move in that direction (though first the King catches Clover and Fairweller embracing, which is bad).
- During the trek, Azalea realizes that she left the handkerchief somewhere, so she goes back to get it… and is hit by an invisible force (so Keeper must've picked up the wraith cloak).
- Azalea fights Keeper and manages to get the cloak off him. She puts the cloak on, disappears, and looks around—but Keeper has vanished too. Obviously he's taken off for the ballroom, to exact vengeance on the King, so that's where Azalea heads too.
