- The palace went nuts while Azalea was locked up: everything's dark, thorns are invading from the windows, and tiny painted cupids shoot arrows at her.
- When she reaches the ballroom, she sees her sisters inside the mirrors—they look like they're freezing to death.
- Keeper finds Azalea there, and threatens to break the mirrors unless she tosses down the handkerchief; then he asks where the King is. Azalea has an idea, and says that he's in the graveyard.
- Keeper releases Jessamine and tells her to go find her father, and while she's gone, Keeper binds Azalea with curtain ropes and asks her how she got the handkerchief back.
- Suddenly Jessamine returns, but alone. She says that the King said that if Keeper hurts the girls, he'll box Keeper's ears.
- Keeper approaches Jessamine, and says that he'll play a game with her (it's implied that he's going to pull her apart the way some children pull apart crickets—nasty). Before he can hurt her, though, he flies across the room—something or someone has punched him.
