- To pass the time, Shorty sings in the darkness.
- He knows time has passed because he can smell the bodies around him now. Let's just say it ain't pretty.
- He wonders whether he's a ghost or a vampire since no one seems to know he is there.
- Then he tries to remember the lyrics to a song Biggie used to sing. He used to think that Biggie loved killing people, but he knows there's more to it than that.
- Biggie used to pass out food to kids and moms who were hungry, and he even gave out money to kids if they needed it.
- When Dread died, Biggie kept paying for Shorty's education out of respect; he knew that's what Dread would have wanted.
- The guy's a class act, Shorty thought at the time. Biggie would drive around the neighborhood in his car—a.k.a. the whip—and everyone would stare at him.
- One day, Biggie asked Shorty if he wanted to go for a ride. He didn't have to ask twice.
- Shorty was so excited to ride in the whip that he barely noticed a girl from the U.N. named Stephanie in the backseat.
- She was helping Biggie pass out food and supplies to locals. For the first time, Shorty wondered what the deal with the U.N. was. He thought they were just soldiers protecting the border who killed Dread…
- Now he thinks they might be trying to help, though, and just not quite know how.
- Biggie asks Shorty to make a map of the Site so he knows where all his costumers and enemies are.
- They drive around for a while. Biggie makes a bunch of pit stops to sell drugs, and Shorty tries to take it all in for his map.
- He knows Biggie is a chimere and selling drugs, but he doesn't care. What other options does he have?
- This is how he got to go to school and eat. Without Biggie, his mom wouldn't have a job, he'd be uneducated, and they'd be on the streets.
- Biggie asks to see Shorty's pwen (that was once Dread's). Shorty shows it to the guy, but he's not sure what the big deal is.
- The next day, Biggie takes Shorty out in his whip again; again, Stephanie tags along.
- When they see Tintin got shot, Stephanie gives him a wad of cash and her card to get past the guards to the hospital. At least he'll get taken care of in there.
- Biggie announces that they are going to take care of (read: kill) some members of the Boston crew who took some of his drugs.
- Shorty goes inside with Biggie, gun at the ready. When a guy answers the door, Shorty shoots without thinking.
- The guy dies, and Biggie welcomes Shorty to the gang.
- Shorty was only twelve back then.
