Now
- Shorty starts to wonder whether oxygen is running out where he is. It's still dark and he wants to cry, but he think that'll waste water.
- Instead he thinks about Biggie and his life as a gangster.
- Biggie used to promise anyone he'd hunt them down in broad daylight if they messed with him. It's how Shorty knew he was legit.
- He also fills us in on how he and Tintin became besties.
- They were standing guard for Biggie one day when Tintin asked him about his pwen. The guy didn't believe Dread actually gave it to Shorty and wanted to see it for himself.
- Out of nowhere, a bunch of Boston thugs roll around the corner, shooting at them.
- Bullets go everywhere, but Shorty doesn't get hit. Tintin figures it was because of the pwen and tells the guy to hang onto that thing.
- During the scuffle, Shorty blocked Tintin from getting blasted, and the rest was history. They started hanging out more often.
- One day, Tintin rolls up in a car, asking Shorty if he wants to do a pick up.
- Shorty knows that's code for "heroine" and he agrees to go along with it.
- They drive outside of the Site, which they can because Stephanie got them a pass. They lie and tell the guard they have to go to the hospital because of Shorty's malaria, but really they just want to get past the guards.
- Once they make it past the barrier, Tintin swerves the car and almost hits a dog. Before they hit it, though, Shorty grabs the wheel.
- Even though Tintin tries to play it off like a joke, Shorty knows Tintin wanted to kill that dog. He's dark and twisted like that sometimes.
- They pull up to a doctor's fancy pad, complete with a pool. When Shorty asks where the pickup is, Tintin explains there is no pickup today.
- Instead he just wants to relax by the pool and drink whiskey and coke. Sold.
- They jump into the water and have the time of their lives. Shorty tells us this is the only time he's been outside the Site. The next time he goes there, he gets shot—but more on that later.
- They're kicking back when a maid walks in. It's clear they're not supposed to be there, and Tintin wants to kill the girl so she doesn't tattle on them.
- Right away, Shorty jumps in between Tintin and the girl. He makes the girl swear up and down that she didn't see anything; they were never there.
- He convinces Tintin not to kill the maid, but just barely. They pinky-promise not to speak of this again.
- Another day, Shorty is in the whip with Biggie when they see his mom walking down the street. She tells Biggie that he shouldn't bother with her son. Then she gives him some not-so-subtle advice by saying he'll get what's coming to him.
- Everyone jokes that Shorty's mom is made of steel.
- Shorty realizes that Stephanie is always hanging around, even when U.N. work doesn't need to be done. He figures she's in love with Biggie, for whatever reason.
- What's a typical day in the life of a gangster? They basically ride around town picking up drugs, dropping them off, and making a lot of money in the process. Oh, and they kill anyone in their path.
- Shorty tells us about a time when they're handing out food to everyone in the Site. All of a sudden, a bunch of Boston gangster roll up and start shooting.
- Everyone is yelling to get down, but all Shorty can do is stare at the girl with the Boston crew.
- She has these eyes that draw him in. He realizes the gal is his sister, Marguerite.
- They wave to each other, but before he can get to her, one of the Boston gangsters grabs her and they run down the street.
- Shorty knows he has to rescue her.
