Always
- This next chapter takes a bit of a turn from the rest of the book. Up until this point, we've been alternating back and forth between Toussaint and Shorty.
- Now we're told "we are always in darkness." We're not sure who the we is, but we're pretty sure that the narrator is talking about everybody.
- Everyone is powerless and enslaved in one way or another.
- With no future or past, all there is for us to know is darkness.
