- Jellicoe School is on break. In September. Remember, they live in Australia and do things differently there.
- Anyway, everyone has left Taylor's house except Taylor and Jessa, who is eventually claimed for the break by Santangelo's family.
- Having the whole House to herself is pretty cool, until Taylor gets super bored—it's not awesome then.
- A couple days later, Raffaela shows up and tells Taylor that Santangelo has a secret unregistered car. More importantly, she knows where it is and how to hotwire it. These Townie girls are very resourceful.
- In Santangelo's garage, Raffaela hotwires the car and makes jokes about Santangelo. Things get kind of awkward when he walks in, accompanied by Jonah. As punishment for their various altercations lately, they have been doing community service together.
- As usual, everyone almost gets in a fight, but Taylor and Raffaela take off before stuff gets dirty.
- On the way back from walking around town, Santangelo and Jonah drive by and offer to give them a lift. They reluctantly agree.
- Riding in the car is kind of cool at first. They play music on the radio and Taylor's just about to zone out and enjoy it when she looks out the window and sees something very familiar...
- Taylor screams for Santangelo to stop. Outside the window, on the side of the road, is a group of five poppies—just like in Hannah's book.
- It gets weirder: Santangelo tells Taylor that twenty years ago, there was a really bad accident on that spot. Whoa. We just got chills everywhere.
- Then things get super bizarre when Santangelo offers to show everyone where the cops found something that belonged to a kid who disappeared.
- Somehow, Taylor gets a strange feeling that the kid has something to do with her own situation—kind of like how she's always felt that Hannah was somehow connected to her mom.
- She tells Santangelo to take them to the spot, which is on the other side of town by the river.
- At the spot by the river, Taylor asks Santangelo why he cares about some boy who disappeared almost twenty years ago.
- Here's the thing, though: Santangelo never said it was a boy. And he also never said it was almost twenty years ago.
- Uh-oh… Busted. Not wanting to reveal the truth about Hannah's manuscript, Taylor lies and says she heard about the case somewhere before.
- Santangelo says that one time, he saw a picture of the kid in his dad's files, and it amazed him that someone their age could actually be dead.
- Then he tells Taylor something chilling: The boy in the picture looks exactly like her.
- He also mentions that there's another picture—one of a group of five kids. This is getting way too creepy.
- Taylor feels some of the creepiness fade when Santangelo tells her the boy's name was Xavier. Phew. That doesn't sound familiar.
- Oh wait—his full name was Xavier Webster Schroeder. Taylor feels herself grow faint, and we totally understand why.
- First there's the whole thing with that middle name, and second, Schroeder is Hannah's last name.
- Back at Raffaela's, Raffy's mom refuses to let Taylor go home and makes her stay the night. She even has to wear a really ugly nightie for old ladies. Um, gag.
- The next morning, Santangelo and Jonah show up at Raffaela's house. As it turns out, the Cadets are on an overnight camping trip that he missed due to community service and he stayed the night at Santangelo's.
- Santangelo tells Taylor that he has a plan to break into his dad's files and get the photos.
- On Saturday night, Taylor goes to someone's birthday party with Raffaela, Santangelo, and Jonah.
- The whole town is there and Taylor spends the night dancing with her friends and chatting it up with new people.
- Then she and Jonah end up outside and make out. Later, the whole hang ends up at McDonalds.
- Wait a second. Townies and Jellicoe School kids making friends? Jonah and Taylor making out? Wasn't this supposed to be war?
