- Taylor continues to have dreams about the boy in the tree with greater frequency. For some reason, the dreams always make her think about Hannah, which kind of freaks her out.
- In one particularly disturbing installment of Taylor and the Boy in the Tree, Taylor senses that there's someone at the end of their branch. The boy dives into the water, and she hears the figure at the end of the branch begin to cry. She's so terrified that she's about to dive into the water herself when—
- Raffaela wakes Taylor up and tells her there's an emergency: Ben went to meet with the Cadets as he promised and the Cadets beat the poop out of him.
- Ben plays the violin, so whenever people beat him up, which seems to happen pretty frequently, they always go for his fingers. That's exactly the tactic the Cadets used this time. In addition to smashed fingers, he also has a pretty nasty black eye.
- When Taylor asks him what happened, Ben explains that the Cadets want any negotiations to take place between her and Jonah and only her and Jonah.
- So basically, Ben got beat up because Taylor was trying to avoid the guy she ran away with three years ago. Nice one, Taylor.
- The two of them have a fight about this and Taylor takes off for Hannah's house to see if she's returned.
- She hasn't. This prompts Taylor to go talk to Principal John Palmer in search of answers.
- Mr. Palmer tells her that Hannah left a note saying she'd gone to help a friend in Sydney. He promises to contact Taylor if he hears from her.
- Back at the House, Taylor explains to the girls that if Hannah calls, they are to come get her immediately, and then she goes to bed.
- We now get treated to another excerpt from Hannah's book. In this one, Webb is sitting in a tree planning to build a house and reminiscing about building things with Narnie and their father when they were kids.
- He shares the plan for his house with Tate and Narnie. The three of them stand on a branch and look out over the ridge below.
