- The next day, Taylor heads to Ben's House to make nice and try to plan for the future. After a week as the official leader of the Underground Community, Taylor has nothing to show for her efforts except his black eye and smashed fingers. Understandably, she's not too happy.
- Ben advises her to ask the Cadets what's in it for her when she goes to their meeting—apparently it's a key negotiations stock phrase. Even though he's not exactly happy with Taylor right now, he agrees to come with her.
- When they cross the boundary into Cadet territory, Taylor accidentally sets off a booby trap and falls down. This brings Jonah Griggs and his boys out of hiding.
- They take Ben by the arms and beat him up again while Jonah and Taylor argue about territory stuff.
- Taylor reminds him that according to the official treaty, the Jellicoe School controls all water access. For the past four years, the Cadets have been able to violate this rule by crossing over a dried-up stream. Unfortunately for them, it rained a ton the previous year and now it's a river, meaning they're literally up a creek without a paddle. Oh yeah, folks. It's on now.
