- Ken Dietz talks about his marriage to his wife, Sindy. They found out they were pregnant and went to her parents, who were horrified that Ken intended to take care of his family on a salary of less than $800 a month.
- He told them that they were going to live with his mother, and that's exactly what they did… until she found out that Sindy was pregnant and kicked them out.
- After that, they lived in gross little apartments. Sindy took a job at the strip club to help with rent payments, and Ken eventually quit drinking.
- When Vera turned one, Sindy took another job at the diner. Ken came in one day and saw all these guys flirting with her and leering, and he realized that he didn't want to be a loser who couldn't provide for his family anymore.
