- Captain Styles orders warp speed, but the Excelsior only manages to splutter out a comical, cartoony sound. In space, no one can hear you scream…but they can hear you fail.
- On the Enterprise, Scotty hands Dr. McCoy parts from the Excelsior's transwarp computer drive, a gift "from one surgeon to another."
- McCoy gripes at Kirk for keeping him in the dark, because he's the gripe-meister. Kirk commends his crew for their work and orders best speed to Genesis.
