- The Klingons wander the ship, basically saying, "Anybody home?"
- Torg informs Kruge that the vessel is empty, and only the computer is speaking. Kruge demands to listen. When he hears the countdown, he figures it out.
- Too late. Enterprise self-destructs, killing the Klingons aboard.
- Kirk and his crew watch the Enterprise's destruction from the planet's surface. The Enterprise looks like a falling star as it disintegrates in the atmosphere.
- Kirk questions the act, but McCoy says he's given them a chance to live.
