In the end, Ulysses makes a run for it and manages to get away from the shovel and Phyllis; Flora and William become friends; Flora and her mom make up; and Flora finally feels like her parents love and care about her. Aw. It's too good to be true, right? Wrong. This is one of those books where everything gets tied up in a neat little bow, and we finally feel at ease after being taken on a wild ride. The only question the ending has us asking is: What happens next?
Will Ulysses keep on fighting cats and flying through diners, or will he focus on his poetry? Will he find another arch-nemesis now that Flora's mom has taken a chill pill? And how will Flora deal with her parents and friend now that she's been through such a wild experience? You'll have to turn to your imagination for answers to these questions, but no matter what you come up with, we're pretty sure the future's looking pretty bright for all involved.
