Chapter 241
- Alice finally wakes up feeling rational.
- The nurse tells her she's been there for ten days—that is one seriously bad trip.
Chapter 242
- Alice continues to assess the physical damage. Her hands are like raw hamburger, and she knows that her face, knees, feet, and elbows are in bad shape as well (even though they won't give her a mirror).
Chapter 243
- A fly gets into her hospital room and she freaks out; she's convinced it will lay maggot eggs on her. The hallucination is still so fresh in her mind she can't really tell what is fake and what is reality.
Chapter 244
- Alice gets out of bed to look in the mirror and things are… not good. She has four broken toes and her face looks like it's been through war. She has apparently pulled entire patches of hair from her head.
Chapter 245
- She re-broke two toes getting out of bed, so now her feet are in casts.
- Her parents come to visit but there isn't much to say until she can think straight again.
Chapter 246
- Alice is dizzy, but the nurse reassures her that it's just from her concussion. Add that to the list of injuries. What the heck happened to her?
- At least the worms have almost gone away.
Chapter 247
- A-ha: Alice has started to piece it all together. Apparently, while she was babysitting Mrs. Larson's baby someone came by and dropped off acid-laced chocolate-covered peanuts. Alice ate a ton of them before she realized something was wrong.
- She was able to somehow call her Mom for help before the bad trip totally took over.
- Once it took hold of her, though, boy… the trip was a doozy. She was seeing Gramps's dead body covered in maggots and worms, and he was going for the baby, so she tried to stomp the bugs out, but they multiplied too fast, getting on her and starting to eat her.
- Her injuries must be from trying to kill the imaginary bugs. Yikes.
Chapter 248
- Thankfully, Alice's parents believe that someone dosed her against her will.
- Alice is also really relieved that she didn't hurt the baby.
Chapter 249
- They are moving Alice to another hospital.
- She is slowly healing, and her mom and the nurse give her a haircut to try to balance out the patchy spots.
- She is still having nightmares about the worms, but has decided not to tell anybody about them because it doesn't do any good.
Chapter 250
- Her mom brings her a packet of letters from Joel, whom she gently told that Alice had a sort of nervous breakdown. Atta girl, Mom.
