Just Listen certainly isn't a story about the Brady Bunch. Although the Greene family may look pretty perfect from outside their beautiful glass house, there's a lot of turmoil brewing inside. Annabel's mother has battled with bouts of depression and Whitney's in the middle of a full-blown eating disorder. Plus Kristen and Whitney aren't even speaking to each other and Annabel's hiding her own painful demons.
Their family may look like it's functioning just fine, but they're dealing with a lot of daily dysfunction and pain. Despite all of this, they still are always there for each other—because that's what family is for.

By hiding away their pain Whitney and Annabel assume that they are protecting their family—but really they are isolating themselves and causing an emotional rift.
