- Whoa. Abrupt change in narrator. We're now hearing this story from some person who calls himself Zombie.
- Zombie has the Red Death. That's the alien plague-disease-thingy, to be clear.
- Zombie is seventeen and totally sure that he's about to die.
- Here's Chris, Zombie's tent mate. Or at least he was until Zombie came down with the Red Death.
- Zombie asks Chris if there's news from the nearby military base, Wright-Patterson. No word, though.
- Chris has heard rumors that the plague was started by humans, not aliens. He doesn't believe the rumor.
- Zombie doesn't like Chris, but he doesn't want Chris to leave, either.
- They hear gunfire in the distance. They're used to it, so no biggie.
- Chris leaves, and Zombie thinks he'll never see him again. Bye, Chris.
- Zombie fingers the heart-shaped locket he wears around his neck. It seems to have sentimental value.
- He hallucinates a little, seeing a young girl who is dead. This upsets Zombie.
- He snaps back when he hears more serious gunfire. Sounds like something's going down.
- Is this it? Zombie thinks this might be it. He's half relieved and half scared out of his mind. He fumbles around for his gun.
- A solider stumbles into Zombie's tent. He says something about how they were always here. Presumably "they" are the aliens.
- Two more soldiers come in. One scans Zombie with some sort of handheld device.
- One of the soldiers picks up Zombie to take him to safety. Interesting.
