- He explains that the military base is the most important center of operations for the Others. Vosch is like their head leader.
- Evan tries to tell her that he didn't want to take part in human annihilation. He and some of the other aliens thought there was a better way.
- Evan explains that he can't take Cassie to the base because that's not his job. He was supposed to kill her, remember? Also, there's no way to sneak in.
- Evan tries to explain his situation some more. For a long time, he thought he was human. Then he "woke up."
- Before he was "downloaded" into a human body, Evan didn't have a body. He and his fellow aliens were pure consciousness. Weird.
- Evan asks if Cassie wants him to show her who he is. She agrees.
- He asks her to empty her mind. A warmth spreads through her body.
