- Captain Loosley and his Population Police comrades are heading south with Beatrice-Joanna and the twins. One of the officers, Sergeant Image, had been abducted and eaten by villagers a few towns back. The same villagers stole Captain Loosley's and the other officer's uniforms, so they are now traveling in their underwear.
