- Cole's using Malcolm's magic trick at a birthday party. The kid isn't impressed, though. Cole then sits on his own and listens to the moms talking (including his).
- He watches a balloon escape from the ground floor up a spiral staircase. He follows it up. He hears voices. There's a voice pleading with him to open the door.
- Down below, some boys are chatting, including the birthday boy who's having this party. The boys go upstairs.
- One of them asks Cole if he wants to see something in that room. Cole says no.
- They say they want to play a game called "locked in the dungeon." So they lock him in that room where Cole was hearing voices.
- Down below, Lynn hears the screaming over the music and goes to let him out. She has trouble getting the door open, but eventually the door somehow magically opens. Both mom and son seem super traumatized.
