- Malcolm enters the church and finds Cole praying.
- He's got a little toy soldier, and he's saying something in Latin to it.
- Malcolm introduces himself and apologizes for missing their appointment earlier that day. They chat, and Malcolm asks Cole about his eyeglasses (which don't have lenses in them) and what he was saying to his toy soldiers when Malcolm entered.
- Cole replies, "De profundis clamo ad te domine."
- Malcolm notices scratches on Cole's arm.
- Cole gets up and kind of half asks whether he'll see Malcolm again. Malcolm says if he wants.
