- Jason spends a few lovely hours in jail; he's worried he's gotten fleas. Magda and Dan get picked up hours before Jason, whose dad doesn't come until about 9:00AM—and when he does get there, he is so mad he can't talk.
- At home his mom stares at him like he's "some sort of freak of nature" (19.25). Jason hides out in his room until he's called to face the music. His parents ask him whether he thinks he should be punished and he says no, noting that "The funny thing is, although I'm embarrassed at getting caught, I don't feel all that bad about climbing the Ten-legged One. What's the big deal? Nobody got hurt. Except for Henry, and that was his own fault" (20.53).
- Jason gets grounded until the beginning of school, which is six weeks away—no phone privileges until then, and no drivers license either.
- He keeps scratching, and when he says he thinks he picked up fleas or lice, the meeting ends quite rapidly.
