- Jason is at church with his family. He ponders what goes on in his parents' heads in regards to attending mass—do they think it will make them better? Happier? Save them from hellfire? What about all the other religions in the world? What makes his parents so sure theirs is right?
- He muses that the Church of the Ten-legged God (CTG) needs a set of rules or commandments.
- He recalls Henry descending the water tower after spitting on Shin, as if "the Ten-legged One was sending an emissary down to speak with [them]" (5.59).
- When asked how he got up to the staircase, which doesn't start for some fifteen feet off the ground, Henry says he flew. He jumps down when he sees the cops. A police car pulls up, and officer Gerry Kramer recognizes Henry—apparently this is not his first kid-on-the-water-tower call involving Henry. Kramer warns all the kids against climbing the tower and leaves. Henry tells the others that he's climbed all the way to the top before.
- It really bugs Jason that he can't figure out how Henry got up to the bottom step of the tower's staircase.
- Back to the Catholic sermon. Everyone takes Communion. Jason is the only one in the church to sit it out.
