- Jason showers with some sort of insecticide shampoo and hides out in his room; his parents leave for work and bridge club. So Jason calls Shin, leaving a message on the machine. Magda's mom won't let her come to the phone, and Jason just hangs up when he gets Dan's machine. He finally gets through to Henry at the hospital.
- Henry has broken a femur and two ribs, and dislocated his finger. He says it was worth it though. "'Think about it, Einstein… You live to be a hundred, you're gonna remember it like it was yesterday. It was probably one of the great moments of your life… How long you think it'll be before you have another night you'll never forget?'" (21.37). Jason thinks Henry is certifiably insane. But also that he has a point.
- He calls Shin's house again, and gets the machine again. He has two hours before his mom is due home, so decides to risk it.
