Character Analysis
Anson Choi is Jonah Griggs's second-in-command for the Cadets' side of the territory wars. While he and Jonah are likely spending hours plotting their next move, we don't get to see it because the story is told from Taylor's point of view. As a result, Anson ends up being mostly a flat character despite his highly ranked position in the Cadets.
Anson does play a role in one kind-of awesome moment in the book—the first ever all-faction band that performs at the grand opening of the Club House. Along with the Townie Mullet Brothers and Jellicoe School's violin virtuoso Ben Cassidy, the three, according to Taylor, "have spent every possible moment together pretending they are a band" (20.1). Actually, pretending doesn't really describe it—at the end of the day, they end up being really good.
