Character Analysis
An overview, if you will. In the grand scheme of the territory wars, the Townies are master negotiators, know the lay of the land better than almost anyone, and are deftly skilled in the fine art of committing petty crimes without getting caught. They also have mullets. Lots and lots of mullets.
We know this much—Taylor doesn't really think too highly of them. "Santangelo's sidekicks are typical hoons," she tells us. "Is there a manual out there that say Townies have to have mullets?" (3.60). It also doesn't help that for some reason, two guys with especially ugly mullets—the aptly named Mullet Brothers—are always at Townie negotiation meetings practicing for the band they think they're in.
So to recap, the Townies range from budding musicians to outright thugs, have mullets, and Taylor is continually amazed by their "abilities to commit crimes with such finesse" (18.84), particularly lock-breaking.
