Character Analysis
Mr. and Mrs. Fettle are two of Cassandra's servants at Strachan's Ghyll. They're kept there by enchantment, and when the phoenix-stone is destroyed, they realize that they no longer want to be there and leave along with all of the other servants. They are both annoyed throughout the book because Madama takes in these poor orphans instead of giving her money to the servants who have worked tirelessly for her for years. They think the whole business is unfair and take it out on Lizzie Rose and Parsefall, saying nasty things about them behind their backs.
