Flora and Ulysses Chapter 29 Summary

Cootchie-Coo

  • Inside the restaurant, Flora and her dad take a seat and start eyeing over their menus when a waitress named Rita comes over.
  • She asks what they want to eat, and Flora whispers to Ulysses to keep on the D.L. so no one suspects him.
  • Just then, Rita notices the box and asks Flora what's inside. It must be a doll, right?
  • Flora is downright offended. What would she, a natural-born cynic, do with a doll in a box? As if.
  • Rita wants to see the doll and keeps pushing, even when Flora claims she doesn't have a doll or want to show her what's in the box.
  • So Rita decides to poke her pencil into the shoebox to see what's inside. (Rita needs to mind her own beeswax, we think.)
  • We're guessing Ulysses didn't like being prodded with a pencil, because next thing be know, he's out of the box.
  • Rita screams. Ulysses screams. A bunch of people look over, just in time to see the squirrel leaping through the air.
  • Boom, Flora thinks. She's excited to see some superhero action.
