Flora and Ulysses Chapter 42 Summary

Foreboding

  • Flora and George pull up to 412 Bellegrade Avenue, a.k.a. Flora's mom's house, and she gets a sense of foreboding.
  • She wishes her dad didn't make her go inside since she feels uneasy.
  • Flora thinks about whether inanimate objects like furniture or a house can actually absorb a criminal's energy; she saw something like this on The Criminal Element once and she's wondered ever since.
  • It's not very scientific, but it's also a really interesting thing to think about.
  • She asks her dad if he remembers the Darkness of 10,000 Hands, and her dad's basically like, of course, since dudes the arch-nemesis of Incandesto.
  • Flora tells him that she thinks her mom is Ulysses's Darkness of 10,000 Hands, or arch-nemesis.
  • Her dad says that even if this is true, Flora still has to face her sometime, though.
