Character Analysis
Donis and his sister are the strange couple that Juan Preciado crashes with after the ghosts abandon him in the streets of Comala.
Donis is pretty suspicious of Juan, and goes about his business as though things were normal, even though he lives in an incestuous relationship with his sister (who is always naked), the roof of his house has caved in, and his town is full of ghosts.
His sister is much more sympathetic, but also pretty creepy herself. She asks Juan whether he can see the sin on her face. She tells of the time she begged the bishop to forgive her sin of incest, but he refused. She feels like she can't get away from her brother… but also doesn't really want to.
The two seem to be living in a sort of apocalyptic Eden. They're like a messed up version of Adam and Eve, far from living in paradise. Their sexual relationship is forbidden, and so they live like prisoners in Comala.
Donis seems to be the most alive person in Comala, and is actually the person who finds Juan dead and helps bury him. He is very matter-of-fact, and had even offered to help Juan find his way out of town, but Juan stayed in the house with Donis' sister, who is much more into trippy stuff like the color of the sin on her face.
