How It All Goes Down
- Rincewind, still chilling up on the wall, wonders why Twoflower isn't worried about the impending sacrifice, but his tourist friend just says something will come up as usual.
- That something is the frog Rincewind rescued earlier. It removes the spell from him and then politely and telepathically asks the wizard to set it on the floor.
- Rincewind does so, and a spectacular display of magic, sparks, and streamers turns the frog into… a frog.
- Behind them, though, the Lady has appeared. Rincewind warns Twoflower to only refer to her as the Lady, for, as everyone knows, if you call Lady Luck by her true name, she won't come to your aid.
- She explains that they will be sacrificed to grant the launch of the bronze spaceship a fortuitous journey—they were chosen specifically by Fate as they irritate him something fierce.
- And now the Lady is here to help them since they amuse her. She's also has a bit of a sentimental streak when it comes to them.
- She offers them one chance before vanishing.
- Garhartra opens the door, and the bottle he had frozen in midair earlier regains its momentum and knocks him out cold.
- The guards with him don't have much chance to move before Rincewind kicks one in the groin and drags a confused Twoflower out of the lush prison cell.
- They encounter two hydrophobic wizards in their mad dash; Twoflower spits on one, and Rincewind knocks the other over the rail and into the water.
- Rincewind and Twoflower hide in a room and are surprised to find it contains the entire universe.
