Mr. Bock

Character Analysis

Jason calls his dad a "borderline religious fanatic" (3.1). Clearly that puts his character in opposition to Jason's. But perhaps more to the point, Jason thinks his dad "believes in brainwashing. He's a lawyer. He thinks you can argue anybody into anything" (3.4), and "He thinks he can fix any problem by talking at it" (23.1). So, like Shin, Jason's dad is a person of faith. Unlike Shin, he tries to reach Jason through talking. Shin is compelled to act on what he believes. What kind of impact do these two and their approaches to faith have on Jason during his faith quest?
