Fierce with Wanting
- Kizzy comes from a pretty weird family. They don't have a television, capture and raise their own animals, and generally spend their time in pretty old timey ways.
- Because she's a sixteen-year-old girl who just wants to fit in, Kizzy basically hates that her family is so bizarre and different from everyone else's. She definitely does not want to be seen with her freak show of a family in public.
- Her best friends at school are two girls named Evie and Cactus. They don't come from such strange families, but they're all flying under the radar when it comes to the hot boys in their classes—that is, they go totally unnoticed by the opposite gender.
- Kizzy tells her friends about how when her grandma recently died, they found a swan and cut off its wing so that she could take it with her into the afterlife. Her friends obviously find this ridiculously odd.
- As Kizzy goes about her day, though, she's completely unaware that there are goblins watching her and salivating at the sight of her.
- She shouldn't be such an easy target—after all, she's grown up with all of her family's Old World tales about vampires and witches and goblins. Her grandma certainly always warned her about them before she died.
- See, her grandma had a sister named Mairenni who looked a lot like Kizzy. Apparently in her youth, she was lured by goblins and they almost made her waste away so that they could take her soul.
- But Kizzy's grandma went after them, killing them and saving her sister's life. Phew. Also, what a fearless heroine Kizzy's granny was.
- Kizzy doesn't know, however, that a goblin has set its sights on her already. And her grandma isn't around to save her anymore. Gulp.
