After Esmé and the Druj Queen untwist their souls from each other, Esmé returns to her normal teenage girl's life but the Druj Queen cannot resume her usual cold existence because she now remembers what it feels like to be human.
Even though Kizzy sees through Jack Husk's disguise at one point during their picnic, she chooses to pretend that he's just a cute human boy because she is so desperate for romance in her life.
