Lips Touch: Three Times Theme of Transformation

Nothing stays the same, right? This is certainly the case for many of the characters in Lips Touch: Three Times. In fact, all three stories focus on moments of intense personal transformation.

For Kizzy, this happens when a cute boy (a.k.a. a goblin) finally pays attention to her—and she finds that she's a bit more reckless than she originally thought. Anamique starts throwing caution to the wind when it comes to her curse because she falls in love with James and just can't stop herself. And Esmé wakes up one morning to find herself literally transformed: She now has one blue eye and a bunch of odd memories that she can't account for. Eek.

Questions About Transformation

  1. Does Kizzy ever see through the goblin's transformation into Jack Husk? If yes, when? If not, why not?
  2. How does Anamique's role as Ambassador to Hell change the way that Vasudev behaves? Be specific.
  3. What happens after Esmé's soul separates from the Druj Queen's? How are both of their lives altered? Give evidence from the text, yo.

Try on an opinion or two, start a debate, or play the devil’s advocate.

After Esmé and the Druj Queen untwist their souls from each other, Esmé returns to her normal teenage girl's life but the Druj Queen cannot resume her usual cold existence because she now remembers what it feels like to be human.

Even though Kizzy sees through Jack Husk's disguise at one point during their picnic, she chooses to pretend that he's just a cute human boy because she is so desperate for romance in her life. Instead of waiting to see who she becomes down the road, Kizzy wants a solution to her romance problem, like, yesterday.
