Yazad
- Mab goes to the old man named Yazad, who was the person that Mihai brought her to after they escaped from Tajbel with Esmé in her belly.
- She demands to know what has happened to Esmé, and Yazad assures her that Mihai will take good care of her daughter. She wants to know what's up with the single blue eye, too. Yazad tells her that he once had a single blue eye.
- According to him, during that time period he was incubating a demon. It eventually hatched and no harm came to him—just like no harm will come to Esmé.
- This doesn't really make Mab feel any better, though. (Funny that.) Yazad explains that the demon incubating inside of him was Mihai. He grew himself inside of Yazad's body in a process called hathra.
