Character Analysis
Joscelyne is Principal at the school where Tristram works. He's a West Virginia man with "a good degree from the University of Pasadena" (1.8.1). He's bald, he twitches, he's lived "a life of blameless sexlessness," and he loves to say "yah" (1.8.1). Although Joscelyne claims to think that denying Tristram's promotion because of his "family background" is "absurd," all the same, he's perfectly willing to go along with it (1.8.5-7). Like Derek Foxe, he's a man who always knows which way the wind is blowing, and who does what he needs to do in order to stay ahead.
