How It All Goes Down
Moscow, 10 July
- Leo is back at the Lubyanka, but this time he's a prisoner. Doctor Zarubin (the dude who checked up on him at home) enters the room, threatens Leo's wife, and heads back out.
- Zarubin enters Raisa's interrogation chamber. He "opened a grate on the wall" connecting the two interrogation chambers so Leo can hear his nefarious deeds, but Vasili suddenly enters and shoos Zarubin away (4.43.23).
- After interrogating Raisa, Vasili moves on to Leo. Leo is willing to confess to all his supposed crimes, but he refuses to deny that there's a serial killer on the loose.
- Frustrated, Vasili calls Doctor Hvostov. As we've seen before, Hvostov's specialty is using "camphor oil" to induce seizures (4.43.35). He injects some into Leo.
- After Leo's seizures stop, Vasili asks him a simple question: what is your name? To our utter shock, our hero doesn't say Leo—he says Pavel. As in Andrei's brother, folks.
