Chomp Chapter 10 Summary

  • On the phone the next morning, Mickey tries to convince Raven that Derek is not qualified to handle wild animals; Raven coolly dismisses this suggestion.
  • The kids wake up and Tuna tells Wahoo that she called her dad, but he hadn't even noticed she was gone. Nice one, Pop.
  • Wahoo and Tuna go to check on the animals, and Tuna names them by their scientific Latin names.
  • They talk about how they are both named after fish and wish they had normal names like Lance and Lucille. Wahoo doesn't like Lance, though.
  • On the way to the Everglades, Mickey gets a wicked headache and Tuna climbs onto the truck bed to find some medicine.
  • While she's out there, Mickey tells Wahoo that they should have called the police instead of bringing her with them.
  • Tuna gives him some mysterious pink pills that seem to help.
  • The crew arrives at a little tourist shack owned by Sickler, a very large man.
  • The narrator tells us all about Sickler: He sells fake artifacts and overcharges for airboat rides where tourists get to see a stuffed alligator he nailed to a log.
  • Derek asks him what to expect in the wilderness and Sickler lies about all of the dangerous animals they will see, like panthers and bears, because he wants them to spend money at his place.
  • Of course Raven kind of freaks out and tells Mickey he must make sure Derek doesn't get hurt.
  • To which Mickey replies he is not a babysitter.
  • Then she tells him that Derek won't be camping but will be helicoptered out to a fancy hotel every night.
